The universally condemned "anti-terror legislation" (house arrests, UK citizens as well as foreigners subject to new legislation etc.) comes very soon after the US "allowed" the three guys to return from Guantanamo Bay. One of the US demands was that the UK govt guarantee that measures are taken to protect US interests from attack. Did the US stipulate the actual measures? Why the UK govt. would risk taking measures ridiculed by the left, the right, the judiciary, trial lawyers, academics - in fact everybody is beyond me, unless it was part of another Blair/Bush deal.
