The election seems like a success in the Shia south and the Kurdish north. No surprises there. what about the Sunnis and their new best friends the salafi jihadists?

Tony Blair made a comment recently suggesting that the second Bush term will be different from the first because Bush has learned lessons from the Iraq adventure. Iran?

It is being alleged by one of the mercenaries in the Mark Thatcher fiasco that Jose Maria Aznar the Francoist Sapanish ex-prime minister was involved in the plot to overthrow the government of Equatorial Guinea. See my earlier remarks on Aznar "The liar of Madrid".
Well here we are in 2005. It looks like Bush wants to have a go at Iran. Well he can't due to the US army being overstretched in Afghanistan and Iraq. And surely even the neo-con loons have enough of a grip on reality to grasp that they are already in the shit and to risk a regional conflict (Shia Iran, mostly Shia Iraq, rabidly Sunni Saudi Arabia, Minority Sunni Ba'athist Iraq, Sunni Pakistan with their own significant Shia unrest) would be catastrophic.
Dunno though.
